PROGRAM COVER:
Fillmore East Theater
1970

O, the Innocent Charms of Art Nuevo [sic] when flagrantly lifted from every bedazzling source from the Czechs to the Greeks. At least Bill Graham did not paint little black panties on our naked duo, as was done by the NY Times to the Tiny Tommy (At The Met) Penis! This buff pair was thought by some to represent the average Fillmore patron without the severe acne nor the attending drug impediment. I created a different cover every year, the final one being “The Fillmore Family” in 1971, pictured elsewhere in this section. It’s as silly and sophomoric as its creator at the time . . .

Pencil on tracing paper.
