NEW YORK ART DECO
EXPOSITION
Pencil Sketch   1974

While searching my archive I came upon the sketch for the New York Art Deco Exposition, which is one of my favorite posters from earlier times. I had admired the two doves in front, which were owned by Paul Tiberio, an LA art dealer at the show. I bought the pair and they still grace our home in Los Angeles. LIke me, they made it through the 70s in NYC and through two earthquakes in LA, enough to break anything or anybody. Paul Tiberio was not so fortunate: In true LA Noir tradition he was found murdered in his shop on Robertson — a rumored mob hit or a sex trick gone bad.

Pencil on vellum.
